Phil’s Phriends are back on the road. Today, three of us braved the cold (46 ° F), but beat the rain. We did our reservoir run through Franklin, Wrentham, Cumberland, and Woonsocket. We completed 22.5 miles at a pace of 14.1 mph, which was respectable considering we have not been on bikes since the fall. However, it does indicate that we have a lot to do between now and August.

Julie won the fashion award with her mis-matched socks and “Flashdance” leg warmers, but she stayed comfortable. Michelle won the most in shape award and she set the pace. I’ll take a hit for wearing booties to keep my toes warm.

The map above shows the course we followed. If you click on the image, it will take you to a website which will give you all the data (and more) from the ride. You can also click here to get to the site. This info is made possible by a new toy: the Garmin Forerunner 305, a GPS tracking device and monitor. I’ll use it to track our training rides each Sunday. The data is uploaded to a site which lets you look at tons of information, including comparisons to other rides around the world. It will be an interesting way to track our progress.

See you next Sunday!
